On this 1h30 nature tour, you will have the pleasure of observing some birds in the Ria Formosa natural park! In a small group and with your local guide, embark on a nature tour, where you will observe the narrow canals of Faro.
Due to these natural characteristics and its geographical location, Ria Formosa Park it was included in the list of wetlands of global interest defined by the Ramsar Convention. In this protected area you can observe different habitats such as barrier islands, salt marshes, tidal flats, islets, dunes, salt marshes, freshwater lagoons, agricultural areas and forests that are home to an impressive diversity of flora and fauna.
A paradise for bird watchers, the Ria Formosa is considered an important bird zone (IBA) and is part of the Natura 2000 Network. This is one of the most important areas for water birds in Portugal, regularly hosting more than 20,000 birds during the period winter. The area is also very important as a stopping point on the migratory routes between Europe and Africa and serves as a shelter for rare species in Portugal such as the Purple Caimão, symbol of this Natural Park and other emblematic species such as the colorful flamingos.
