🌳 Discover the Forest Landscape and Its Flora
The forest is a result of early forestry regulations dating back to 1916, and the first afforestation plan was implemented at that time. Due to extensive silvicultural activity, the area is now dominated by Stone Pine (Pinus pinea), Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp., including 17 varieties), and Acacias (Acacia picnantha), alongside various oak species like Holm Oak (Quercus rotundifolia) and Cork Oak (Quercus suber). The landscape bursts with vibrant colors in spring, thanks to the blossoming heather, lavender, and gorse that decorate the shrub cover.

As we journey through the Santa Rita Woods, we’ll observe the 40 hectares designated for outdoor activities within the forest space. Along the way, you may encounter a small community of deer, and there’s also a bird observatory near a tranquil pond, which was restored in 2012. This peaceful natural setting offers the perfect backdrop for your adventure.
🐴 Horseback Riding at Quinta Alvisquer
The second part of the tour takes you to Quinta Alvisquer, an estate covering about 40 hectares of cultivated land. Here, you’ll enjoy a scenic horseback ride guided by Antonio, who will share insights about the estate and the surrounding natural beauty. The equestrian center is an ideal place to connect with nature, offering a relaxing and immersive experience.
