Enjoy a relaxing guided boat tour through the tranquil canals of the Ria Formosa, with stops at two beautiful islands: Deserta Island and Farol Island. Experience the park’s diverse nature, unwind in comfort onboard, and admire the unique landscapes that make the Ria Formosa Natural Park one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal.
Embark on a unique 15-mile route, starting with Deserta Island, where you’ll explore a wild, uninhabited area. With its rich flora, dunes, and crystal-clear waters, this island is a true paradise. Walk along its long, wide beach on both the estuary and ocean sides. Don’t forget to visit Cabo de Santa Maria, the southernmost point of mainland Portugal.
Next, head to Farol Island, a charming tourist village where you’ll find the historic Santa Maria Lighthouse, built in 1851. The island’s narrow, sandy streets, colorful bars, and quaint houses make it a delightful stop. The island boasts a stunning, wide beach—though be aware that it shortens at high tide!
On each island, you’ll have around 45 minutes to 1 hour to explore freely. Whether you choose to swim, relax on the beach, have a cocktail, or take photos, you’ll enjoy plenty of time to make the most of each stop.
And throughout your journey, you’ll be accompanied by a local, multilingual guide who is passionate and attentive to all your needs!
